Trek Itinerary

Day 1 - Arrive in Sonamarg

  • Pickup time 12 P.M from TRC Taxi Stand, Srinagar, in front of Tourism office building (Not Included in package cost)
  • Altitude: 7800 feet
  • It takes approximately 3 hours to drive 90kms from Shrinagar
  • GoAdven India can arrange pickup from TRC at 12 pm if booked in advance
  • The campsite is located near the Sindh River (Shitkadi Village).
  • There are no shops nearby so make sure you have everything you need.
  • Keep your ID proof with you in the original and two photocopies. We will need them to check at the Army Check Post
  • Arrival in Sonamarg, the starting point of the trek.
  • Check into your accommodation.
  • Spend the day exploring Sonamarg and preparing for the trek ahead.

Day 2 - Sonamarg to Nichnai via Shekdur

  • Altitude: 7,800 ft – 11,500 ft
  • 11kms Trek, approximately 8 Hours
  • Trek from Sonamarg to Nichnai via Shekdur.
  • Enjoy the scenic views of the surrounding mountains and meadows.
  • Reach Nichnai and set up camp for the night.

Day 3 - Nichnai to Vishansar Lake

  • Altitude: 11500 ft to 12,000ft through 13100 ft
  • 12 km Trek, approximately 7 hours
  • Trek from Nichnai to Vishansar Lake.
  • Pass through beautiful landscapes and dense forests.
  • Reach Vishansar Lake, a pristine alpine lake surrounded by snow-capped peaks.
  • Set up camp near the lake and rest.

Day 4 - Vishansar Lake to Gadsar via Kishansar Lake & Gadsar Pass

  • Altitude: (12,000ft to (12,000ft), via (13.750ft).
  • 14kms Trek, approximately 10 Hours
  • Trek from Vishansar Lake to Gadsar via Kishansar Lake and Gadsar Pass.
  • Cross over Gadsar Pass, enjoying panoramic views of the surrounding mountains.
  • Reach Gadsar Lake, known for its emerald green waters.
  • Set up camp near the lake and rest for the night.

Day 5 - Gadsar to Satsar

  • Altitude: 12,000 ft – 12,000ft
  • 9kms Trek, approximately 6 hours.
  • Trek from Gadsar to Satsar.
  • Pass through scenic landscapes and high-altitude meadows.
  • Reach Satsar, a group of seven interconnected lakes.
  • Set up camp near the lakes and relax.

Day 6 - Satsar to Gangabal Twin Lakes

  • Altitude: 12,000 ft – 11,500 ft 13000
  • 11kms Trek, approximately 6 Hours
  • Trek from Satsar to Gangabal Twin Lakes.
  • Enjoy the views of the Gangabal Lake and its surrounding peaks.
  • Set up camp near the lakes and spend the evening relaxing.

Day 7 - Gangabal Twin Lakes to Naranag. Drive to Srinagar Altitude: 11500 ft to 7450 ft

  • 15kms Trek, approximately 7 hours
  • Trek from Gangabal Twin Lakes to Naranag.
  • Reach Naranag and board vehicles for the drive back to Srinagar.
  • Bid farewell to the beautiful landscapes of Kashmir and conclude your trek.
  • You will arrive in Srinagar at 6:30 pm after driving 70kms.
  • Prepaid sim cards are not valid in Kashmir. Carry Postpaid Sim Cards.
  • You will reach Srinagar on Day 8 between 6:30 and 7:30 PM. After 8 PM, you can book your travel.

Note: Kindly note in our Kashmir Great Lakes Trek Day 08 is Buffer day (which is optional) and will be used as a buffer day only incase of any weather condition, shutdown, political unrest, using Rest day / buffer day will completely depends on current weather condition of the region or Kashmir Situation. In all good situations the trek will continue and rest buffer day will not be used, making it a 6N 7D program. If the rest day / buffer day is used GoAdven India will charge for its logistics accordingly.

Who can participate

  • Age; 7 years.
  • First timer can apply; previous trekking experience is more appreciated.
  • The trekker must be fit and have sufficient stamina to cover 4 km of distance in 35 minutes without a stress.
  • Maximum age depends on your fitness level
  • The climber should be able to carry a 10-12 kg backpack.

 Health Awareness

  • Pulse rate at rest must be in between (60 to 90 beats per minute)
  • Blood Pressure Reading must be in between (DIASTOLIC 75 – 85, SYSTOLIC 100 - 130 mm Hg)
  • Respiratory rate at rest must be in between (12 to 20 breaths per minute)
  • Should not have Liver and kidney issues
  • Should not have Diabetes Mellitus, Bronchial Asthma, Epilepsy, Heart problems, Hypertension etc
  • No pacemaker implant

Cost Term

Normally Go Adven India expect to carry your personal luggage on your own, if you wish to offload your backpack, you can give it to Mule.
